OCPP Mozambique. WIOMPAN Exchange Programme Report 2025: Building Connections Across the Western Indian Ocean Marine Protected Area Network 2025

Abstract

The work in this project focused on the WIOMPAN Exchange Programme, held in Seychelles from 31 August to 11 September 2025. The programme brought together marine protected area (MPA) managers and practitioners from across the Western Indian Ocean (WIO) region, including representatives from Kenya, Madagascar, Mozambique, Comoros, and Tanzania.

The initiative was supported by JNCC through the Ocean Country Partnership Programme (OCPP) and served as a platform for knowledge sharing, experiential learning, and cross-country collaboration. Participants visited key marine parks, engaged with rangers and management teams, and explored practical tools and systems for monitoring and management effectiveness.

This resource was produced by the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA) for JNCC, under the Ocean Country Partnership Programme.
