The conservation of lowland dry grassland birds in Europe 1991

Abstract

The Seminar on the Conservation of Lowland Dry Grassland Birds in Europe was held at the University of Reading from 20 to 22 March 1991. It was organised by the Nature Conservancy Council (NCC) of Great Britain, in association with the International Council for Bird Preservation.

The Seminar was attended by 45 participants from 12 countries. While the principal focus of the Seminar was on dry grasslands and their associated birds, the importance of other flora and fauna was appreciated. Moreover, the continuum between dry grasslands, wet grasslands and upland grasslands was explored, especially since many of the causes of habitat loss are common to all grassland types.
