FAVOURABLE CONSERVATION STATUS

UK STATUTORY NATURE CONSERVATION BODIES COMMON STATEMENT

The concept of Favourable Conservation Status (FCS) has a foundation in international wildlife conservation. Achievement of FCS for a range of species and natural habitat types is the explicit aim of the EU Habitats Directive.

The UK Statutory Nature Conservation Bodies (SNCBs) have developed a common view on FCS, which is articulated in this statement . The purpose of the statement is to set the concept of FCS in a UK and UK country context, explain the relevance and application of FCS in the UK and define its contribution to UK nature conservation.
