International Women's Day 2017

Meet Carol Bowley - organiser, problem solver and busy mum and grandma.

Carol Bowley, JNCC Administration Assistant

Q) What is your role at JNCC?

I’m an admin officer and I also work for the Directors’ Office. From organising Committee meetings to solving office facility problems, I’m your woman!

Q) Your dreams and ambitions - complete the sentence "One day, I will....."

Learn to drive before my 60th birthday and go on a world cruise. I attempted the driving 30 years ago, had a wobble and now I’m trying again. You’re never too old to learn.

Q) What advice would you give to your younger self?

Watch your finances and what you eat. Learning to budget should be taught in schools as it’s essential for later life. Learning about healthy eating is essential as health issues can creep up on you and prevention is better that having to diet!

Q) What challenges do you encounter maintaining a work/life balance?

It’s sometimes hard to switch-off after a busy day. Walking my dogs every evening helps me to unwind and I enjoy card-making.  Most evenings I’ve nodded off on the sofa by 9.30pm. A real party girl!

Q) Which positive female role models do you admire?

Angelina Jolie’s humanitarian work is inspiring. She’s a working mother  tackling some important issues in some of the most dangerous parts of the world.

Q) What’s your greatest achievement?

My children. I have three happy and healthy sons, and my four grandchildren bring a special joy to my life. Especially as I can hand them back!
