JNCC took on the UK LIFE National Contact Point service from 01 January 2016. We provide a free and confidential support service for the LIFE Programme in the UK on behalf of Defra (Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and the Devolved UK Administrations. Our service includes a helpline, pre-screening of proposals for eligibility and fit and advice on administrative and contractual issues. Below is a summary of some of the services that we provide.

Concept note

The 2017 Call was launched on the 28th April with staggered deadlines in September  - for more details please see the 'Before you start LIFE' tab.  We will review concept notes throughout the year but advise that projects take at least six months to develop. Please download the concept note template and return it to us via email to enable us to evaluate the eligibility of your proposal.  We have also produced a guidance document to support the completion of the concept note template.

A8 - letters of support for LIFE Nature & Biodiversity projects

LIFE Nature & Biodiversity projects require letters of support from the competent authority. JNCC are coordinating the drafting of these forms - please contact us immediately if you require this form.

Pre-screening of proposal

We will pre-screen draft proposals through-out July and most of August on a first come, first served basis. However, please note that we will no longer accept proposals after the 21 August 2017. We therefore would like to encourage potential applicants to send in their forms as early as possible as this will give us enough time to review them and provide thorough feedback and it will help you to incorporate the comments in good time. If you are planning to use our pre-screening service we would appreciate if you could indicate by when we may expect your forms in order to help us plan and provide a timely response. Please speak to us if this will cause you any difficulties.

We will also not be able to provide substantial advice on projects less than five working days before the relevant deadline.
