Future work on Phytophthora and biodiversityInfection on woodland vaccinium @ Forestry Commission

The potentially devastating impacts of Phytophthora on biodiversity makes further work of very high importance.  The over-riding priority is to find ways in which to control the spread of infections on bilberry, and potentially other native plant species.  Combining epidemiological research with biodiversity information may make it possible to model priority areas for control measures.  Further work is also necessary to understand better the likely impacts on ecosystem services, and the impacts of Phytophthora in Europe.  Some of this work is now being taken forward under contract.
