Introduction
Littlefield Consultancy offers a wide range of services for
Recorder 6 users, including the supply of the software,
customisation through addins, report writing, data transfer, and
training. We offer installation support, which can be tailored to
meet user needs, with assistance being provided evenings and
weekends where this is required.
The Consultancy has expertise and experience in the management of
Access databases, and interfacing with and reporting from them. It
is run by Mike Weideli, who has been involved in the development of
biological recording and reporting packages for over 10 years,
including supporting a large database for a national society.
Support
We can offer a wide range of support for
Recorder 6 and a similar range for Recorder 2002. This could
include:
1. General support, set up and
maintenance of the system.
2. The production of bespoke XML reports
and Batch Updates . Prices vary depending on the complexity of the
report, but can be under £30.00.
3. Reporting and data input
systems in MSAccess
4. Transfers of data from a wide range of
sources including spreadsheets, word processors and
databases. Prices depend on the volume and complexity of the
data. Transfer from Recorder 3 are done in conjunction with Sally
Rankin, and Sally should be contacted in the first instance about
these transfers.
5. The transfer of data from Recorder 2002 or
earlier version into the latest version of Recorder 6. This service
is specifically designed to help those who are having difficulties
with upgrades. Transfer typically cost £140.00.
6. Reorganising data, including the
identification and removal of duplicate records, and
rationalisation of the Location and Name structures.
Training
We do not run formal training courses, but are able to offer
customised on site training courses for a few individuals.
These courses would cover the customers specified needs rather than
the general working of Recorder. The rate for the courses is
£250.00 per day (6 hours) plus travelling and accommodation
expenses as agreed. Typically we would expect an initial course to
take two days.
We can offer customised training in :-
1. Setting up the system and general use.
2. XML reports. This would
normally cover some general training on the use of XML reports,
plus the production of a few reports specifically designed to meet
the users needs.
3. XML Batch Updates. The course
would be designed to meet the customers requirements and
would typically involve the production of batch updates to meet
some specific needs. For example a system for validating
records.
4. MSAccess . The course would cover the use
of MSAcess for reporting on Recorder 6.
