The UK Terrestrial Biodiversity Surveillance Strategy
The UK Terrestrial Biodiversity
Surveillance Strategy has been developed by JNCC to help the
funders of surveillance to ensure there is sufficient surveillance
in place to meet three objectives,
and to help all who plan surveillance activities or
use results from surveillance schemes.
The Surveillance Strategy consists of a series of
tools and analyses, outlined
below.
Tools to help plan surveillance
Analysis of need and coverage
The Surveillance Framework Document presents
the following analysis of surveillance need and coverage:
- Analysis of the surveillance requirements of different
drivers of surveillance, for example, air pollution, climate
change, the UK Biodiversity Action Plan, and Habitats
Directive.
- Assessment of the surveillance currently in place to
provide information to meet these surveillance requirements.
- Assessments of the gaps and overlaps in surveillance
coverage.
We are continuing to expand the assessments
carried out and tools available within the Surveillance Strategy.
An overview of the strategy is contained in the Surveillance Strategy
(February 2009 version) (PDF, 154 kb), but
please note this document is no longer being kept updated
- further improvements to the strategy will be added to this
website.
Please
with feedback of
how the strategy could be improved to better meet your needs.
