Consultation on Defra soil strategy

Defra have published a new Soil Strategy, which aims to ensure England's soils continue to support food production, natural habitats and biodiversity, and to halt the loss of soil carbon. This is particularly important in light of the rising temperatures and increased frequency of severe climatic events predicted as a result of climate change. The Soil Strategy identifies factors currently compromising soil resilience, explains existing policy measures to achieve sustainable soil management, outlines our broad goals for the future, and suggests some initial changes that may improve the efficacy of existing soil protection measures.
