Future Priority ' areas for research

report (344 Kb)
It is important for the credibility of reviews undertaken by
BRAG that review teams use appropriate rigour, and that they
design and provide outputs appropriate to the needs for
evidence.
This report provides a list of points to consider during the
planning stages of a review, covering areas such as the evidence
need and the need for the review, through to review limitations
and final reporting stages.

This report presents a summary of the important
knowledge gaps, identified by the UK Biodiversity Advisory Group
between 2003-2006.
Through its engagement with experts from the scientific research
and policymaking communities, the UK Biodiversity Research Advisory
Group (UK BRAG) has identified important knowledge gaps associated
with a number of cross-cutting biodiversity research themes.
Specialist sub-groups were asked to consider these gaps and the
research needed to address them. The aim of this process was to
identify current biodiversity research priorities and present them
to both research funders and providers so that they can assess how
best to contribute to resolving current gaps in the evidence base.
This report documents the recommendations made by the sub-groups,
identifies common themes and sets out the main priorities for
biodiversity research in the UK.

Marine biodiversity and the provision of goods and services:
identifying the research priorities.

this report
Ecosystem goods and services are delivered through various
combinations of ecosystem functions which are in turn delivered by
different components of marine biodiversity. Given the
difficulties in sampling and understanding the processes occurring
in the marine environment, comparatively little is known of how
marine biodiversity contributes to the delivery of goods and
services relied upon by people.
With this in mind a special sub group of the UK BRAG was
convened to look at Marine biodiversity and the provision of goods
and services, and their report is now available.
