Many marine monitoring techniques require taxonomic
identification (I.D.) of species and there are a number
of
photographic tools and databases available
online which provide useful information relevant for the
identification of UK benthic species and habitat features of
conservation interest.
There is also a need to establish or highlight
Quality Control standards for epibiota. Quality
Control standards already exist for infauna through schemes such as
the Marine Biological Analytical Quality Control Scheme (NMBAQC)
and this scheme is now widening its remit to encompass
epibiota.
This section is set up to be dynamic and new online
