The original UK Biodiversity Action
Plan (UK BAP) list of priority species, created between 1995 and
1999, included 12 non-lichenised fungi species for which
Species Action Plans (SAPs) existed, and an additional 15 species
in a Grouped SAP. However, in 2007, a
review of UK BAP
priority species and habitats (PDF, 1.3Mb) was completed, and
the
revised list now contains 77 priority species of
non-lichenised fungi (listed here with lichenised
fungi).
The Fungus Conservation Forum BAP
Techical Committee, chaired by
Plantlife, was responsible
for input of fungal advice to the Priority Species and Habitats
Review, which was completed in 2007.
The original UK Biodiversity Action
Plan (UK BAP) list of priority species, created between 1995 and
1999, included 33 lichenised fungi species for which Species
Action Plans (SAPs) existed, and an additional 4 species possessing
Species Statements. However, in 2007, a
review of UK BAP
priority species and habitats (PDF, 1.3Mb) was completed, and
the
revised list now contains 138 priority species of
lichenised fungi (listed here with non-lichenised
fungi).
The British Lichen Society BAP
Technical Committee, chaired by JNCC, was responsible for
input of lichenological advice to the Priority Species and Habitats
Review, which was completed in 2007. It is supported by the
British Lichen Society Conservation
Committee.
The BAP Technical Committee produces
species updates on implementation.
