Rarity and Threat

In addition to the Red List, a ‘¹waiting list’ of vascular plants requiring further work was also published.

 

An assessment of bryophytes will be published by JNCC in 2007.  A summary of the threat and rarity statuses that apply can be downloaded from the Species Designation pages.  A total of 497 taxa were considered in the evaluation:

¹Vascular plant "Waiting List"

The most recent assessment of threat status for vascular plants included a group of taxa which were placed on a ‘Waiting List’.  These taxa require further work to be concluded before it will become possible to assess their conservation status.  There are three main reasons why taxa are placed here: 1) inadequate distributional data; 2) taxonomic uncertainties; 3) uncertainty over native, archaeophyte or neophyte status.  A full description of the Waiting List is included in the publication.
