SACs and cSACs in Northern Ireland which adjoin SACs in the
Republic of Ireland
As described in Section 1.1, each Member State is required to
prepare and propose to the European Commission a national list of
sites for each of the Habitats Directive features which occurs in
their European territory. While selection and submission of sites
within national territory is the responsibility of individual
Member States, natural areas which cross territorial borders may be
included in separate but adjoining SACs proposed by more than one
Member State. Several SACs within the UK (all in Northern Ireland)
adjoin SACs in the Republic of Ireland, as follows:
