World Wetlands Day

“February 2 is World Wetlands Day! Even though many wetlands in the northern hemisphere are frozen today, and some in the southern hemisphere are dry in midsummer, the day commemorates the coming into force of the Convention on Wetlands in Ramsar, Iran, on Feb 2 1971.

Wetland Bird Survey 2009/10


The latest output of the Wetland Bird Survey has been published, monitoring the UK’s internationally-important populations of non-breeding waterbird species. The report includes updated population trends, changes to national 1% thresholds, and the impacts of recent cold winters on wetland birds.
