Letter to UK HAP and SAP group chairs and lead partners
(8 November 2011)
A letter has been sent to all known HAP and SAP groups following
a meeting of the UK Standing Committee (UKSC) in May 2011,
which confirmed that the UK HAP and SAP groups are no longer
accountable at a UK level. UKSC acknowledged that the groups
could provide useful fora for the exchange of ideas and best
practice, but recommended that the organisations providing the
staff and resources for the groups need to take a view as to
whether the investment is still worthwhile. The UKSC also
emphasised that implementation of biodiversity policy is now a
devolved issue, and therefore any ongoing group needs to main
appropriate contact with each country's lead delivery body on
priority for action.
A copy of the letter is available here: Letter to HAPs and SAPS - 8
November 2011.
