OT and CD funded participation
As part of its capacity-building objective, the JNCC OT and CD
programme provides financial support for UK OT participation at
international and regional events. This is seen as an opportunity
for UKOTs to have a platform for information share, skill
share and promoting good case studies.
Anyone in the UK OTs or CDs wishing to apply for funds to attend
a training course or conference should refer to the guidance and
forms provided below. Applications are accepted at any time
throughout the year.
Terms of
Reference – guidance on who is eligible to receive
funding and how to go about submitting a request.
Application
form – please provide all of the details required. We are
unable to process incomplete forms and delay may result in the
application being unsuccessful.
OT and CD
Territory Background Report – this form can be used to
request appropriate background information from other OTs and CDs ,
where a cross-region approach would be useful at an event.
Report on funded
participation at international/regional event – this form
allows the participant to provide feedback on the event
attended.
A number of UK Overseas Territory staff have already received
funding to attend International and Regional events. Follow the

- Kevin James George, of the St Helena National Trust, will be
attending the Protected Areas monitoring workshop, Ascension
Island, 4th-8th June 2013. His report will follow.
- Elizabeth Clingham of the Environment Division of the St Helena
Government is attending the 3rd International Whale Shark
Conferencein Atlanta, Georgia, USA, 6-10 Oct 2013. Her report will
follow.
- David Higgins of the Environment Division of the St Helena
Government is attending the regional workshop on Monitoring in
Protected Areas in the South Atlantic on Ascension Island, 4-8 June
2013. His report will follow.
- Samia Sarkis of the Department of Conservation Services, for
the Government of Bermuda, is attending CBD CoP 11 in
Hyderabad, India, between October 8th - 19th 2012. Her report
will follow.
- Dallen Connor of the Department of Environment, for the
Government of Anguilla, attended the 'Green Economy:
Challenges and Opportunities in Managing Health, Water, Waste,
Land, Energy, Climate Change and our Natural Resources' workshop as
part of the Sixth Biennial Caribbean Environmental Forum &
Exhibition (CEF-6), May 21st to 25th, 2012.
- Samia Sarkis of the Department of Conservation Services, for
the Government of Bermuda, attended CBD SBSTTA 16 in
Montreal, April 30th - May 5th 2012.
- Liz Charter of the Department of Environment, Food
and Agriculture, Isle of Man, attended CBD SBSTTA 16 in Montreal,
April 30th - May 5th 2012.
- Stephen Mendes from the Government of Montserrat attended Forests for People,
People for Forests: Forest-based livelihoods in the Caribbean. May
4th - 6th 2010.
- Rhon Connor from the Government of Anguilla attended the "Island Invasives:
Eradications and Management" conference hosted by the University of
Auckland, held at the Tamaki Campus, Auckland, New Zealand, between
the 8th and 12th February 2010.
- Olivia Renshaw from the Ascension
Island Government and Mat Dacosta-Cottam from the Cayman Islands Government attended a
workshop entitled 'Helping Islands
Adapt' in Auckland New Zealand from the 11th - 16th
April 2010.
