Working in Europe

Sharing and accessing information, gaining consensus and forming joined-up approaches across Europe are essential to positive nature conservation outcomes. We work closely with organisations, groups and networks at UK and EU levels, including:

• European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity (ETC/BD): ETC/BD is an international consortium working with the European Environment Agency under a framework partnership agreement. It works with Member States to provide support to the Habitats and Birds Directives, to develop biodiversity-related indicators and to provide information that supports environmental and sustainable development policies in Europe. 

• European Environment Agency  (EEA):  The EEA is an EU Agency that aims to produce European, pan-European and regional integrated environmental data and indicator sets, assessments and thematic analyses as a sound basis for decision-making in the EU and Member States. We work with the EEA as the UK Reference Centre for both biodiversity and agriculture. 

• European Network of Heads of Nature Conservation Agencies (ENCA-net): The network of senior officials works together to strengthen nature conservation in Europe. It enhances co-operation through information exchange, influencing policy development and sharing views
  
• European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils (EEAC):  The EEAC is a network of advisory bodies from Member States that work together to exchange information, improve policy advice and shape and influence policy at the EU level. We work actively and as an observer on a number of the EEAC’s working groups.
