The Habitats Directive: selection of Special Areas of
Conservation in the UK
These pages provide an explanation of the SAC selection process
in the UK, with descriptions of interest features and individual
site accounts, together with supplementary information. They
replace JNCC Report, No. 270, 'The Habitats Directive:
selection of Special Areas of Conservation in the UK', which was
published in 1997.
They are updated whenever the UK submits new data about
candidate SACs to the EC, or after there is a change to the
designated status of sites. Last updated 31 October
2012 following the submission of
Tranche 43 on 29 October 2012- review changes.
