1029 Freshwater pearl mussel  Margaritifera margaritifera
Freshwater pearl mussels Margaritifera margaritifera are plentiful in the Moidart, from Loch nan Lochan downstream. The highest mussel densities of 2030 m2 occur in the middle to upper sections of the river. The Moidart is one of the few rivers where, in addition to an abundant adult mussel population, there is evidence of juvenile recruitment.
