1166 Great crested newt  Triturus cristatus
Peterís Pit is an old chalk quarry situated in the North Downs in north Kent, with large ponds situated amongst grassland, scrub and woodland. The ponds have widely fluctuating water levels and large great crested newt Triturus cristatus populations have been recorded breeding here.
